Marisa Guardo is Counsel to the firm in the Trusts & Estates Group. Ms. Guardo concentrates her practice in the areas of trusts and estates and taxation. She represents clients in a wide range of matters including income, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax matters, and the drafting of wills and trust agreements, including grantor trusts, insurance trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, and charitable trusts. She is experienced in planning issues associated with closely-held business interests, and other investments, including analysis of valuation issues and structuring asset transfers. She has represented both corporate and individual fiduciaries in connection with the administration of estates and trusts, as well as in kinship matters, real estate matters and elder law. Ms. Guardo is admitted to practice in the States of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Real Property and Trust law Sections of the New York State Bar Association and American Bar Association. She was co-chairman of the Richmond County Bar Association Tax Committee (1988-1990). She also became a certified public accountant in New York in 1984. Ms. Guardo earned her undergraduate degree (B.S.) summa cum laude and her law degree cum laude from St. John's University School of Law, where she was a St. Thomas More Scholar.
