Aleena R. Shapiro ("Lee") practices primarily in trusts and estates, taxation and family wealth succession planning. In addition, she structures and advises mid-size businesses and tax-exempt organizations. Ms. Shapiro has written numerous articles on taxation and estate planning, and has lectured at programs of the NYU Summer Tax Institute, the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, among others. She currently serves on the Trusts, Estates and Surrogates Court Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, is a past President of The New York Tax Study Group, Inc., former Director and General Counsel of the Financial Women's Association, and has served on the boards of many professional and community organizations. Ms. Shapiro received a J.D. from NYU Law School where she was an editor of the Law Review, an L.L.M in Taxation from NYU Law School, an M.A. in History from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. with Distinction from the University of Michigan. She worked as a tax associate in the New York law firms of Willkie Farr and Gallagher; Battle Fowler; and Patterson Belknap, and founded the firm of Shapiro and Wender, LLC before joining Hartman & Craven.
