Peter Goodman has over twenty years of civil litigation experience. Mr. Goodman's practice is focused on the litigation of disputes arising out of corporate and other business transactions, real estate dealings and employment relations. The following is a representative sample of the corporate and commercial disputes with which Mr. Goodman has been involved recently. (i) Prosecution of a fraud and breach of contract action against a security guard subcontractor; (ii) prosecution of breach of contract claims for a utility cost consultant; (iii) defense of a broker of electronics components for claims alleging breach of a contract for the sale of goods under the Uniform Commercial Code; (iv) defense of a claim against an accountant by a former client alleging negligent referral to a money manager; (v) defense of an action alleging the breach of a joint venture agreement; and (vi) negotiation of favorable terms for an ousted minority shareholder In the area of real estate litigation, Mr. Goodman has litigated actions asserting claims for breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation with respect to the sale of real estate, and he handles title and landlord-tenant disputes. He also has extensive experience representing cooperative apartment corporations in litigation with tenant-shareholders, employees, vendors and suppliers. Typical matters in Mr. Goodman's employment practice involve handling claims relating to restrictive covenants and other breaches of employment contracts, claims alleging unlawful discrimination, claims for sales commissions and the negotiation of employment agreements. He represents both employers and employees. Mr. Goodman received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1982, and was awarded his J.D. degree from Temple University School of Law in 1985. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. He is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, is currently a member of its Committee on State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction, and has served on its Committee on Cooperative and Condominium Law, Land Use Planning and Zoning Committee and Real Property Committee. He also serves on bar association subcommittees which study the developing area of electronic discovery in litigation.
